Mercat a la Planxa's Paella Cook Off // September 7

Several of Chicago's top chefs representing restaurants like Animale, Travelle, Two and Vie will cook up their most unique paellas in Mercat a la Planxa's recently renovated South Loop dining room. Enjoy paella samples along with Spanish tapas, sangria and wine while listening to traditional Spanish music and watching flamenco dancers. Sepia Celebrates 10 Years // September 8-17

Michelin-starred Sepia, one of the pioneering restaurants in thte West Loop restaurant corridor, turns 10 years old in September. Chefs Andrew Zimmerman, Adam Zoscsak and Sarah Mispagel have crafted a 10-course tasting menu that takes guests down memory lane with beloved dishes from years past like foie royale on brioche and tea-smoked duck breast with black garlic gnocchi. Food will be complemented by $10 cocktails and wine pairings from the 2007 vintage by James Beard Finalist sommelier Arthur Hon. In honor of the world's largest beer festival, Wicker Park's Smoke Daddy will serve specialty German dishes like smoked German sausage sandwich with potato salad ($10) and giant pretzels with beer cheese and caramelized onion mustard ($13.95) for a couple of weeks.
