Looking for some great, affordable family fun this summer? How about a day at the track? Chicago's popular horse race track, Arlington Park (located in suburban Arlington Heights), opens alongside the Kentucky Derby this weekend.
Beautiful Arlington Park opened their doors on Oct. 13, 1927 and have been hosting races ever since. This year, the schedule of races is full of great opportunities to catch a race from May until the end of September.
There are some great special events taking place at the track this year as well. The park opens on May 3 with a celebration and viewing party for the Kentucky Derby. Fans can also watch the Preakness and Belmont Stakes at the track.
Arlington Park will also host special days to show your love for the Chicago Cubs, White Sox and Bears, as well as a Northwestern University Day and a Fire and Police Appreciation Day.
The season will climax on Aug. 17 with the 31st Running of the Arlington Million.
Tickets range from $2 for children on most race days to $22.50 for Million Day (with a program included). Click here for more information about tickets.
