For many Chicagoans, the activation of the flowing water streams of Buckingham Fountain signals the beginning of the summer season. But for Lakeview residents, and local music fans, the arrival of the annual Mayfest represents the first sign of summer. From May 20-22, a billowing big top will cover 3100 N. Ashland and the non-stop music, food and fun of Mayfest.
For the 21st year, the festival hosts a beer garden, a Chicago Kids Day on Saturday with crafts and a kiddie boot camp, and three days of Chicago-grown music. Stroll around the Lakeview community as you enjoy the fun-loving atmosphere of this popular fest.
Check out the campy performance of Libido Funk Circus on Saturday and groove to the band's exhaustive repertoire of classic disco, rock, pop and funk. There are 11 live bands featured during the three-day event so remember to wear your dancing shoes! This fest gets pretty crowded by mid-day so arrive early for the best sight-lines.
Tickets are $10 and Mayfest runs from 5pm-10pm on Friday, 10am-10pm on Saturday and noon-10pm on Sunday. Snag eary bird tickets here.
