Ferris Buller at The Skydeck Willis Tower

June 11, 2016 marks the 30th anniversary of one of Chicago's most iconic movies — "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". The city is celebrating with a variety of fun activities that would guarantee approval from the "righteous dude" himself.  Literally at the top of the list is a series of anniversary experiences at the Willis Tower (or Sears Tower as it was then known and is still called by old school Chicagoans) that mirror Ferris' madcap adventures. Stand in Ferris' Shoes

Climb up onto the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower to the Skydeck observatory and recreate the famous scene where Ferris, Cameron and Sloane gaze down 1,353 feet. The exact spot where Ferris stood is marked and mannequins representing Cameron and Sloane flank the window, making it perfect for an Instagram pic. The activity runs through August 26. There's also The Ledge — clear glass boxes that extend out from the tower and hover above the city streets — if you dare to take your views to the next level.

Sample Treats From The Abe Froman, Sausage King of Chicago Food Truck

In a hilarious nod to the scene where Ferris snatches a reservation at the snooty Chez Quis restaurant from the absent Abe Froman, sausage king of Chicago, local fave Hubby's Dog House will be transformed into an Abe Froman food truck, serving up brats and other delicacies outside Willis Tower. The truck will be parked outside Willis Tower on Wacker Drive, every other Friday through August 26, from 12:00-2:00pm.
