What do you call an event that features rock music, stand-up comedy, pro wrestling, burlesque and street art? That kind of classification is exactly what The Rock and Wrestling Rebellion (RAWR for short) is defying at the Double Door on April 5.
I love this for how ballsy it is. RAWR is certainly not for everyone. But if you like any combination of the above or you're feeling adventurous, this show promises to be that special kind of chaos that makes for an unforgettable night.
The evening's producer, Blitz Pro Wrestling, describes the event as more experience and party than performance. The stage/ring will alternate between stand-up comedians from Chicago's 100 Proof Comedy, bands Expired Empire and Simple Simon, burlesque dancers Serenna Starr, Roxie Rae and Bettie Bombshell, and wrestling matches. When the show is over DJ Todd Anthony will play until the Double Door closes.
The show is 21 and over, and drinks will be flowin'. The house will be transformed into a gallery where local street artists will be painting and showing off their work.
Blitz Pro Wrestling is even bringing in former WWE and WCW Superstar, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake to compete alongside its roster of local wrestling talent that includes Mr. 450, Ruff Crossing, El Chivas Blanco, Rinaldo Piven, Grin, The Ringmaster and more.
If you can't make it on April 5, or you're a little worried about being at the epicenter of all that mayhem, fear not. Gigity.tv is also sponsoring the event and the entire show will be available for live streaming and download.
Tickets are $20 and on sale at DoubleDoor.com
