The Comedy Bar

"Jim Belushi is Chicago" said The Comedy Bar founder Kyle Lane of his new business partner. Jim grew up in the Chicago area and performed here at The Second City before heading off to Hollywood. But there's always been something about his timing, his comic sensibility, his attitude that reminds you of his Chicago roots.

Jim Belushi 2

And Jim hasn't forgotten those roots, because on October 18-20 he'll be in town for the gala re-launch of The Comedy Bar, which he is joining as a business partner. The Comedy Bar, located in Chicago's River North neighborhood at 157 W. Ontario Street, opened in August 2011 with a mission to bring a unique mix of local comedy and music to the heart of the city.

Now, with Jim Belushi attached, The Comedy Bar is taking its place as a major Chicago comedy venue. And they're kicking off this re-launch with three nights of excellent entertainment with Jim Belushi himself introducing the acts, sharing stories from his life, and even sitting in with the house band for a blues set.

Jim is no stranger to partnering with Chicago entertainment venues. He's a partner in The House of Blues, where his band "The Sacred Hearts" is the official house band. The Comedy Bar is his first comedy club investment in Chicago and it'll be very interesting to see what Jim's star power can do for the young venue.
