Sometimes cold and sub-zero temperatures can prevent us from hitting the town. Trust me, I have not put on pants with a waistband in ten days. However, this is no excuse to stay home. Come on, people, this city is just as fabulous under its many roofs as outside. Don't delay your trip - just embrace an indoor itinerary. Here is my perfect indoor day (pants required at most locations).
Go to a Museum
Honestly, with the number of museums in Chicago, you could be occupied inside for months. I could really just stop my list here. You know about the big wigs like The Field Museum, Museum of Science and Industry, and The Shedd Aquarium, but I've got a few "Like a Local" picks to add to the list. These include the Chicago History Museum, the National Museum of Mexican Art, and Swedish American Museum.
Grab a Beer
Now that you've learned something, it's time to do what Chicagoans do best - drink beer. I bet you didn't know that Chicago is full of all kinds of fabulous breweries to wet every kind of beer enthusiast's appetite. Some notable ones include Goose Island, Piece, and Revolution Brewery. Let's face it, everyone, you'll need a beer coat.
Catch a Flick
Now that you're all brewed up, it's time to cuddle up for a movie. Head to the Music Box Theatre in the Southport Corridor. This historic theatre shows everything from indie films and documentaries to classics like West Side Story. Snuggle up to your honey, your best friend, or a complete stranger (ask consent, people) and watch one of the Music Box's offerings. You might be so comfy you won't want to leave.
Hail a Cab Home
Call a cab with the Taxi Magic app. Ain't nobody got time or shoes that they care little enough about to walk home in this! Download the Taxi Magic app to your smartphone and get a cab to pick you up wherever you are. Bonne nuit, my snowy friends.
Help us keep the lights on by subscribing to Chicago Like a Local. For your efforts, we'll deliver awesome stories (like this one) to your inbox. Do we have a deal?
