The bustle at the Kimpton Hotel Allegro starts as soon as you step off the sidewalk on Randolph Street in the Chicago Theatre District and up the stairs into their lobby. With its Art Deco interior and the welcoming feel you’ll get when checking in, it’s easy to see why so many people make the Hotel Allegro their home-away-from home when visiting Chicago.
A Room Of One’s Own
After checking in, make your way up to your deluxe room, which you’ll find complete with a range of wonderful amenities. Every room includes decadent bath products from Atelier Bloom, a 43” LCD flat-screen TV and a range of throw pillows adorning the bed and chairs so that you can relax your head and feet in the comfort you deserve.
If you’re coming in town for a special occasion, you may wish to look into one of their suites, which include more room for additional guests. There’s also one suite with a jacuzzi, if you’re looking to truly unwind!
Oh, and there’s more: the Allegro also offers complimentary coffee and tea service every morning, along with morning newspapers. Additionally, you can take advantage of their in-room spa services for an additional charge or head on down to their onsite fitness center.
Perhaps the stand-out items here is the social hour in their lobby living room from 5 to 6 p.m. It’s a great place to grab a drink and meet fellow travelers before you go out to a show or other evening excursion.
A Few Feet Away, 312 Chicago Awaits
While you may want to stay in your room all night and day (save the social hour, of course), the Hotel Allegro is also home to the fabulous 312 Chicago restaurant. Chef Luca Corazzina and his colleagues have brought together a wonderful range of Italian speciality items, including Burrata Cheese, Branzino and Pappardelle Bolognese. The team here provides access to all three meals. Check out their menus online before stopping by.
I’d recommend the Salmon Prepared with Tri-Colored Lentils, and the Sautéed Scallops with Shrimp, Tuna, Mussels, Clams, and Lobster in a Light, Spicy Tomato Broth.
For dessert, why not take a novel approach with a Cheese Tasting, and if you do, make sure to get the Cravazina and Fontina, along with a couple of their rotating selections. They are all accompanied by Grilled Focaccia, Fruit Preserves and Red Grapes—perfect for sharing.
After all of this, you can slide on over to the bar for a bit of grappa and conversation. It’s the perfect end to the day. Enjoy your visit and no doubt you’ll find much else to do during your stay at the Allegro!
