Love Mexican food and culture? Of course you do. Well hold on to your seats, because Celebrity Chef Rick Bayless - of the award winning Frontera Grill, Topolobampo and XOCO - is inviting some of his closest chef and mixology comrades for Mod Mex & Mod Mix, Sept. 13-14, hosted by Bon Appétit presents Chicago Gourmet.

This weekend-long celebration, featuring some of the biggest names in food and drink, will push the boundaries of modern Mexican fare, as only these creative stalwarts can. Hosting cooking demonstrations, tastings, cocktail pairings, friendly competition, and simply unforgettable meals, the "Mod Squad" might just persuade you to up and move to Mexico once you get a taste.

Day 1 - Saturday, Sept. 13 at Kendall College, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Meet the new faces of Mexican food at this friendly face-off, refereed by WGN-TV's Ana Belaval. Rick Bayless, Pablo Salas (Amaranta Restaurant, Mexico City), Curtis Duffy (Grace, Chicago), and Fany Gerson (La Newyorkina, Brooklyn, NY) defend their vision for new Mexican food. Ticket-holders can expect to indulge in some food, beverage, cooking demos, tequila tastings, wines and more! 

Day 2  - Sunday, Sept. 14 at Topolobampo, 6 p.m.

Ever dreamt of enjoying a five-course meal prepared by Rick Bayless himself? Well this night is your chance! With guest chef honors once again taken on by Salas, Duffy and Gerson, guests will get the very best in modern Mexican, with cocktail preparings prepared by mixologists Joseph Mortera, Dave Arnold and Jay Schroeder. 

If you really want to splurge, reserve a spot for the VIP reception, which includes a one-hour behind-the-scenes gathering in the test kitchen prior to service, with a cooking demo with Chef Bayless and a bottle of craft tequila bottled exclusively by Topolobampo.

All event proceeds benefit Chicago Public Schools students studying culinary arts through the Kendall College Charitable Trust and the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (IRAEF).
