Maria's Packaged Goods

For those of us who want something more than a handful of bar nuts or a burger, bars, taverns and taps can come up short. That said, there are plenty of bars in Chicago that offer top notch fare without a fine dining price. If you're looking for budget-friendly treats in ecclectic Chicago neighborhoods, stop by one of these delicious spots.

Maria's Packaged Goods and Community Bar (960 W. 31st Street)

Head to Bridgeport for this bar's outdoor patio BBQ featuring a fusion of Polish Korean sausage delciousness. The beer, over 300 to choose from, isn't free ninety-nine like the grub, but there's always some kind of special going on. 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Burwood Tap (724 W. Wrightwood)

The Burwood Tap which has been in Lincoln Park since 1933, offers a free food buffet at 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. This usually includes a pasta dish such as stuffed shells with meatballs. Plus, there's always free popcorn.

The Rail Bar & Grill (4709 N. Damen Ave.)

Describing themselves as having an upscale sports bar atmosphere, you can decide for yourself as you enjoy their homemade $1 chili on trivia night. Sundays during brunch there's an all you can drink Bloody Mary bar with over 60 ingredients to choose from.

Cobra Lounge (235 N. Ashland)

This is one of our favorite nights because we get to indulge in 35 cent smoked chicken wings (naked or smothered in b-b-q, hot bar-b-q or buffalo sauce) along with a fun, lively and danceable set from the boys of Dusty Grooves. It's a great start to the weekend without breaking your wallet.

Although it's tougher to find specials on yhe weekends because most prople flood restaurants and venues you can still hit up a couple of places for inexpensive deals.

Kincade's Bar & Grill (2500 N. Southport)

Kincade's Bar & Grill has a free buffet from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Fridays along with $3.50 pints of the day. There are also $5 weekday lunch and dinner specials.
