Fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris might be over, but now it's Chicago's turn with the city's annual Fashion Focus Chicago, celebrating and exhibiting all things fashion in Chicago.
From Oct. 14-19, the week is jam-packed with fashion shows, shopping events and panels all around the city, exhibiting different levels and styles of fashion in Chicago.
Below is a selection of Fashion Focus Chicago events for the week. Put on your best look and get ready for an amazing week. Even better - a majority of the events are free.
Tuesday, Oct. 14
Focus: Chicago's Fashion Week Kick-Off/Fashion Industry Town Hall
Chicago Cultural Center, 6-9:30 p.m. Free.
Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and the Mayor's Fashion Council host this panel and celebration to celebrate everything fashion in Chicago. Nena Ivon, director of Randolph Market and Modern Vintage Chicago, will present the keynote speech, followed by a panel discussion with Ivon and designers Lagi Nadeau, J. Toor and Marie P. Anderson. Ryan Beshel emcees the event. Event is free, but RSVP is requested.
Wednesday, Oct. 15
REVOLUTION Runway and
Chicago Cultural Center, 7-9 p.m. Free.
Juniors, seniors and graduate fashion designers from Sanford-Brown College (formerly the International Academy of Design and Technology) will present their unique designs. Fashion show begins at 7 p.m., but guests are invited to the portfolio show at 6 p.m. as well. First come, first served. RSVP for tickets here.
Thursday, Oct. 16
Style Bias: Street
Chicago Cultural Center, 6-8 p.m. Free.
The pop-up design studio will showcase the designs from Steam Studio, a CPS City of Learning Program. Students involved in the program create work that is a product of media production skills and creative techniques, inspired innovation and culture, providing real-world application to subjects taught in school.
Friday, Oct. 17
The Art of Fashion Runway Show
Millennium Park, Chase Promenade North Tent, 6-9 p.m. $55-$115
In its 8th season, StyleChicago.com returns with its headlining fashion show event. Chicago designers such as Calvin Tran, Christina Karin, Heidi Hess and more will showcase their Spring '15 collections. The event is preceded by a cocktail reception with light hors d'oeuvres.
Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 18-19
Millennium Park, Chase Promenade North Tent, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Free.
StyleChicago.com returns to the tents Saturday and Sunday, but this time with more than 30 local designers selling everything from clothes to jewelry and bags. Get your hands on pieces from designers from the runway the night before, as well as other great designers such as Michelle Tan, Anna Hovet, K. Amato and more.
Millennium Park, Chase Promenade South Tent, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Free.
Mosey over to the other end of the park for all your menswear needs. Everything from clothing to footwear, games to grooming supplies will be available for purchase - with all products being manufactured in the U.S. Chicago menswear favorites such as Fourth is King, Drift Eyewear, Kaehler 1920 and more will be at the mobile menswear market.
