Eli's Cheesecake

Made in Chicago with premium ingredients, Eli's Cheesecakes are the best in the city and beyond. They've been the sweet, celebratory dessert for many a Chicago birthday and anniversary, but they also make for a sweet indulgence on even a rainy Monday afternoon or a late Friday night fridge raid. In honor of National Cheesecake Day, Eli's Cheesecake of Chicago will be hosting a grand celebration from through Sunday, August 2. Why all the hoopla? It's Eli's Cheesecake's 35th Birthday!

The story of Eli's Cheesecake started with Eli Schulman, who owned a well-loved steakhouse on Chicago Avenue, Eli's The Place For Steak. Eli created his signature dessert and presented it at the very first Taste of Chicago in 1980. Today Eli's sells about 15,000 cheesecakes each day!

The festivities will all take place at Eli's Cheesecake World, a corporate office, bakery, retail store and dessert café all wrapped up into one sweet destination (with easy parking to boot!). Outstanding prices make it the perfect spot to stock up on cakes and treats for your next big party, but the fun events and family offerings, as well as a dessert café where you can order scrumptious desserts by the slice, round out the sweet fun.

A milestone birthday calls for an extra-special cheesecake and Eli's will introduce Birthday Cake Cheesecake (at top), which will make its debut as a Dipper: frozen confetti cheesecake on top of a layer of old fashioned birthday cake, enrobed in milk chocolate, rolled in more confetti and served frozen on a stick! Taste of Chicago goers got to try it and it was a hit.

Expect an activity that will appeal to everyone in your family: The Jesse White Tumblers will fly over a giant Eli's Birthday Cheesecake, The Happiness Club will perform their award-winning musical show; a craft showcase and a classic car show with over 100 cars (Sunday only) will round out the fun. Wear your favorite retro outfit at the Come As You Were Costume Contest or take part in the Cheesecake Olympics for Kids where kids can compete in cheesecake eating contests and cheesecake hula hoop contests. Eli's delicious farm fresh grilled lunch will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Perhaps best of all, major cheesecake tastings mean you can try a new flavor every hour!

The Eli's Cheesecake Festival takes place at Eli's Cheesecake World (corner of Montrose and Forest Preserve Drive in Chicago). Admission and parking free. A portion of the proceeds benefits the New Horizons Center, a school for the developmentally disabled located adjacent to the bakery.Visit CheesecakeFestival.com for a complete schedule of events.
