all designers and design enthusiasts! Design Harvest, a West Town
design and arts festival, will be hitting the street today and tomorrow. The best local home and garden designers
will come together to create a design marketplace that locals and
visitors of West Town can come and enjoy. The design objects on display
will range from vintage and antique, to environmentally-conscious
modern. Many of the objects have been recycled, re-used, and redesigned
so that you can enjoy them today!
In its fifth year, Design Harvest has said it will be focusing more on the artists this year. This includes seminars and "how-to" workshops from some of the best home and garden designers in the city. Each designer will have their own little pop-up shop for attendees to visit. This allows visitors to see all the different aesthetics and styles the talented designers have to offer at Design Harvest. Leading designers will be there to offer workshops from budding designers and lead question and answer seminars. There will also be a silent auction, so be sure to bring some cash and bid on some great pieces of art.
On top of the great designs, Design Harvest is a great festival for kids! From 11 a.m. -4 p.m. each day, there will be a number of fun children activities for the kiddies to partake in like a free tractor hayride! There will also be a petting zoo, mini hay maze, and face painting! Like the adult workshops, there will also be kid workshop stations like the "Build Your Own Scarecrow" workshop. Be sure not to miss the pumpkin carving demonstration where professional artists take to a pumpkin canvas to dazzle and fascinate the children in attendance ... and the adults too!The music for the festival will be brought to you by one of Chicago's favorite radio stations, WXRT. Click here to see the line-up. Performers will be performing in accordance with The Hideout to keep visitors jamming as they take in all Design Harvest has to offer. There will also be local food and drink vendors offering tastes of fine wine and craft beer through the weekend.
Be sure to match the $5 suggested donation at the entrance and enjoy one of the most fun fall festivals Chicago has to offer!
