Jose Abreu Chicago White Sox

On Chicago's South Side, the 2015 White Sox season begins with some new faces - and new expectations.

The White Sox were regarded as some of the big winners in free agency this winter. Former Cubs ace Jeff Samardzija will come back to Chicago as a member of the White Sox, joining Chris Sale in one of the better rotations in the majors. Jose Quintana, John Danks and Hector Noesi will fill out the starting staff, one that is expected to compete with any in the game.

At some point in the near future, the White Sox will welcome a future star prospect to their major league roster. Carlos Rodon, the third overall pick in the 2014 Draft, had a magnificent spring but will start the season in the minors.

Also added this winter were first baseman Adam LaRoche and outfielder Melky Cabrera, two players with postseason experience and who have been big time producers in other places during their big league careers.

LaRoche will be the centerpiece of an infield that will include Alexei Ramirez, Connor Gillaspie, Carlos Sanchez, Emilio Bonifacio and Gordon Beckham. Cabrera will join Adam Eaton and Avisail Garcia in the outfield. Emerging superstar Jose Abreu will take over as the primary designated hitter for Robin Ventura's team, and will look to improve upon a fantastic rookie season.
