Chicago Restaurants Celebrate a Culinary Icon With James Beard Eats Week 2017: April 21-May 1

The James Beard Awards, affectionately nicknamed the "Oscars of food," is once again set to take place in Chicago, bringing the best chefs and restaurateurs from around the world to the city for a world-class celebration of cooking. Considering Chicago's reputation as one of the best food cities on the planet, the location makes perfect sense. This year, food-lovers can take the celebration even further by partaking in James Beard Eats Week, April 21 – May 1.
In partnership with CS Magazine and the Illinois Restaurant Association, Choose Chicago is heading up a week-long celebration of the awards’ namesake cooking pioneer, James Beard. It affords diners the opportunity to experience Beard-inspired dishes and menus at upwards of 140 local restaurants.

The 2017 James Beard Awards take place at the Lyric Opera House on Monday, May 1, with 10 Chicago nominees vying for the nation's most coveted culinary titles, including Topolobampo for Outstanding Restaurant, Kevin Boehm and Rob Katz of Boka Restaurant Group for Outstanding Restaurateur and Jenner Tomeska of Next for Rising Star Chef of the Year.
Tickets to the James Beard Awards and Gala are on sale to the general public — buy tickets and join the biggest names in the industry for a night as the red carpet is rolled out and drinks are raised to toast the winners.
