One of the biggest food events in one of the best food cities in the world, Chicago Gourmet (presented by Bon Appétit) just gets better and better each year. One new facet to look forward to this year is the Rise & Shine Gourmet event, a special addition geared towards families and wellness enthusiasts.

Taking place September 27, in the thick of the Chicago Gourmet weekend, Rise & Shine Gourmet promises a morning packed with activities, good eats, education, and culinary camaraderie from some of Chicago's best restaurant talents. Presented by UnitedHealthcare and emceed by LeeAnn Trotter, Rise & Shine takes place at Maggie Daley Park from 8-11 a.m., with a portion of proceeds from the event going toward Pilot Light, a nonprofit project designed to improve food literacy and to educate children on how to make healthier food choices.

It all starts with a sunrise yoga class taught by yogi Sarah Nash of CorePower Yoga, along with an optional family run and walk led by the Chicago Area Runners Association. Pilot Light founder and chef/owner of One Off Hospitality, one of Chicago's preeminent restaurant groups, Paul Kahan will teach a social studies lesson about the benefits of healthy food and its abilities to bring people together.

After the activities, it's time to eat. Brunch will be served by several Chicago chefs and Pilot Light members, including Justin Large of One Off Hospitality; Allison Scott of Local Foods; Jared Van Camp and Anne Owen of Owen + Alchemy; Jason Hammel of Lula Cafe; Paula Haney of Hoosier Mama Pie Company; and Matthias Merges of Yusho, A10 and Billy Sunday. Juices and snacks will be available for kids, while a Bloody Mary bar and beer mimosas will be on hand for the adults.

Tickets to Rise & Shine Gourmet are $55 for those 13 and over, $15 for children six to 12, and free for those younger than five. Guests will be gifted with a Rise & Shine Gourmet T-shirt, a yoga mat, and a tote bag filled with provisions from KIND Healthy Snacks. Tickets are available here
