Chi-Town Rising

It's time to shout, "Farewell!" or perhaps, "Good Riddance!" to 2016 and say, "Hello!" to 2017. And nothing says, "Happy New Year!" better than a New Year's Eve packed with champagne toasts, far-reaching fireworks, extra-silent disco dancing, a rising star and a 5K. Wait . . . what? It's Chi-Town Rising! Chicago’s biggest, brightest and newest New Year’s Eve celebration.

Chi-Town Rising launched with a bang for NYE2016 and organizers expect that the event will attract more than 100,000 attendees this year. Most of the action will be taking place between Michigan Avenue and Columbus Drive, where as many as 50,000 attendees on both sides of the Chicago River will watch the capstone event—a rising star—the largest NYE public icon in the world. As the countdown to 2017 begins, the star will ascend 36 stories up Hyatt Regency Chicago, culminating in a spectacular fireworks show.
