My kids love nothing more than a day filled with snow fun. Navy Pier is celebrating all things snow at its annual Snow Days Chicago event this weekend on February 8 - 9, at Gateway Park, located just in front of the pier entrance. This fun celebration is your chance to play in the snow - and offers everything from snow sculpting to snowboarding to snow painting!
Beginning Wednesday, February 5 and continuing through the afternoon of Saturday, February 8, the snow sculpting competition brings together teams of talented professional snow sculptors from around the world, with each team creating an imaginative sculpture out of a 10-foot blocks of man-made snow. Though the teams will only be sculpting from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., all of the snow sculptures will be beautifully and colorfully illuminated every evening. Families can also participate by voting for their favorite professional sculpture to win the People's Choice award.
Also on Saturday and Sunday, February 8 and 9, check out the Interactive Snowboard Experience, which gives kids the chance to experience snowboarding for the first time on a special interactive course with obstacles. Instructors from Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park will be on hand to teach kids snowboarding basics, too. All participating kids must fit into a size 5 or smaller snowboard boot, and a parent or guardian must sign a waiver in order for their child to participate.
In addition to the snow sculpting competition and interactive snowboarding, kids can also paint a masterpiece on snow, enjoy live entertainment at Navy Pier's Family Pavilion, and warm up indoors while browsing Navy Pier's many shops and attractions.
