The Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile is located in the heart of downtown Chicago, near Michigan Avenue's fabled shops and restaurants. It's in an area of constant development with cutting-edge design around every corner. So, naturally the neighborhood's cornerstones have to keep up with the times. Enter the Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile and its incredible, multimillion dollar transformation.
What Does $25M Buy These Days?
The hotel made comprehensive changes to its 419 guest rooms, meeting and banquet space, lobby, indoor pool and fitness center. With new furniture, art work and flooring, the design choices are bolder and more contemporary. The newly added Escape Bar is a far cry from your more traditional "business center," with Apple products, free Wi-Fi and swanky lounge space. I'm not saying that I'd throw a party a party inside of a business center, but this place looks more like a booth for bottle service than a spot to print boarding passes.
The Gym is Bigger. Much Bigger.
Since there's nothing worse than sharing your squat rack space, the hotel's makeover includes a 60% expansion of its fitness center. The cardio equipment has been upgraded as well with Wi-Fi access, individualized TV screens and iPhone docking stations, so you can finally respond to e-mails while, simultaneously, burning through a 12 mile-per-hour interval sprint. Multitasking never looked so tiresome, but your suits will fit much better.
Level 2 is the Hyatt's new eating and drinking space. The restaurant features contemporary American cuisine and a few unique menu outliers, like a communal Sushi Bar. The Express Lunch option offers 15 different dishes for a cost of $15 each and - as a numerically poetic wrinkle - you can expect your food to arrive within 15 minutes of ordering. For on-the-go lunches, that's hard to beat in the Streeterville neighborhood.
