The one and only "Roastmaster General," Jeff Ross is coming to UP Comedy Club this weekend with local comedian Adam Burke and LA-roaster, Tony Hinchcliffe. I shared a few words with Jeff and really wanted to figure out if he is as tough as he seems or if there's a softer side ... find out what he says below.
How'd you get into comedy?
I got into comedy the same way everybody does ... I had a bad childhood and a sport jacket.
What made you choose to focus your attention on "roasting?"
Every comic needs a lane. This is mine. Plus it was a chance to share a stage with some of the greats like Buddy Hackett, Henny Youngman and Milton Berle.
Who was your favorite roast?
Whoever is next.
What is your favorite line you've ever used roasting someone?
"How is possible that Courtney Love looks worse than Kurt Cobain?"
Growing up, were you the class clown, the bully or somewhere in between?
I was somewhere in between. In fact I stood up to the bullies on behalf of the kids that got picked on. I've always been the type of person who gets along with all types of people. I'm a comedic chameleon.
If there's one thing people, in general, don't know about you that you wish they did, what would it be?
I'm just a normal guy with an abnormal life. Like everybody else, I just want some love, affection, and a bowl of spaghetti at the end of the day.
Well there you have it folks, Jeff Ross, Comedy Central's Roastmaster General really just wants some love, affection and spaghetti. He'd also probably like it if you came to his show at UP Comedy Club this weekend, October 9-11. You can purchase tickets here.
