Ahoy, lads and lasses, it's time for a sea-faring (lake-faring?) adventure! Aye, you scurvy dogs, the Tall Ships Chicago 2013 is coming back to Navy Pier August 7-11, 2013. What are the Tall Ships, you ask? Mateys, the Tall Ship Festival is when my fellow sea-dwellers and I bring our majestic ships to your land-lubbin' shores (Shh, I'm in character.). The whole family of land-folk can come enjoy the festival at Ye Olde Navy Pier, where fourteen of the world's fairest maidens of the sea will be portin'.
Dependin' on your sea-legs, there are three ways to enjoy the Tall Ships this year. General Admission allows my land-lubbin' friends to gaze at those sail-laiden lovelies from the docks. If that's not enough for your voyaging eyes, try the Dockside Boarding ticket, where you can board these fine vessels for a tour with an expert sea-farer like me-self (still in character). Any true seaman knows that a ship ain't a ship unless she's pilotin' the fair seas (lakes), so if a journey on Lake Michigan tickles your peg leg, you need the Sail Away Cruise ticket, which allows you to take a trip on the high seas (er, Lake Michigan, at least) in one of the fourteen Tall Ships!
If that's not enough adventure for yer likin', you can eat in the Intercontinental Hotel's captains' quarters with the captains of the tall ships. Aye, August 8-10 from the hours of 8am to 9:30am in the hotel's Continental Restaurant. The restaurant will be serving a variety of breakfast staples, from healthy oatmeal pancakes to thick crepes with bananas. Join your captains for a fine meal just like gentlemen and fair ladies ya' are. Mayhaps you'll be their next first mate!
