When Marc Schulman, president of Chicago's very own Eli's Cheesecake, invited my kids and I to spend a day at Eli's Cheesecake World, I just about jumped for joy (and so did my kids). We love Eli's Cheesecake!

Made in Chicago with premium ingredients, Eli's cheesecakes are the best in the city and beyond. They've been the sweet, celebratory dessert for many a Chicago birthday and anniversary, but they also make for a sweet indulgence on even a rainy Monday afternoon or a late Friday night fridge raid. So naturally we drove over to Eli's Cheesecake World with our tummies rumbling and our sweet teeth tingling.

The story of Eli's Cheescake started with Marc Schulman's father, Eli Schulman, who owned a well-loved steakhouse on Chicago Avenue, Eli's The Place For Steak. Eli created his signature dessert and presented it at the very first Taste of Chicago in 1980. Today Eli's sells about 15,000 cheesecakes each day!

Eli's Cheesecake World is a Corporate Office, Bakery, Retail Store and Dessert Café all wrapped up into one sweet destination (with easy parking to boot!). Outstanding prices make it the perfect spot to stock up on cakes and treats for your next big party, but the fun events and family offerings, as well as a Dessert Café where you can order scrumptious desserts by the slice, round out the sweet fun.

Eli's Chessecake, Turtle

Our visit began with a tour of the factory, which churns out thousands of cakes that are delivered throughout Chicago, the U.S. and beyond each week. We were impressed by the top notch ingredients like pure Madagascar vanilla and Ida Red Apples from Michigan. All of the desserts are slow-baked in small batches then decorated by hand. The lead cake decorator patiently guided us as we decorated three cheesecakes of our very own.

At the in-house café we started with dessert - luscious s'mores tarts - and then moved on to soup, salads and sandwiches. I highly recommend the Matzo Ball soup! Of course we saved room for more dessert, too! From layer cakes to tarts to cheesecakes (of course!), you won't be able to resist multiple servings of dessert at this busy café.

Eli's Cheesecake World is located on the northwest side of the city at 6701 Forest Preserve Drive (at the corner of Forest Preserve Drive and Montrose). Plan your visit to coincide with the menu of amazing events, including DIY cupcake decorating, Senior discount days, free dessert days and more. Visit elicheesecake.com for more information.
