A busy day of shopping on Michigan Avenue calls for a break. Step away from the hustle and bustle and head over to Bistronomic, a contemporary French bistro that features big flavors and housemade, modern French cuisine, all served in a friendly, relaxed Gold Coast setting. And though Bistronomic is rooted in France, it showcases seasonal and sustainable ingredients, many of them sourced from area farms, giving you a true taste of the Midwest.

Martial Noguier (right), Executive Chef/Owner of Bistronomic, brings more than 25 years of culinary experience to the table and is one of the few, if not only, independent chef/owners to own and manage a restaurant in Chicago's famed Gold Coast neighborhood. Originally hailing from Paris, Chef Noguier worked for a number of French chefs before relocating to Chicago and realizing his dream of opening an approachable and affordable contemporary bistro. Even the name, Bistronomic, is a combination of three words - bistro/gastronomy/economic - reflects Chef Noguier's objective.  

Together with Head Chef Jérôme Bacle, Noguier routinely visits the nearby Green City Market, selects the freshest ingredients, and prepares dishes based on what produce is available. The best deal of the season is the Summer Plat du Jour with a Wine or Beer Pairing, which invites guests to enjoy a "plate of the day" paired with a glass of wine or beer that best accentuates the seasonal flavors. 

Sunday: Steak Frites prepared with New York Strip Loin with truffle sea salt frites accompanied by a glass of rosé wine, $29

Monday: Homemade Seasonal Ravioli or Pasta accompanied by a glass of Beaujolais wine, $24

Tuesday: Free Range Amish Chicken Breast served with seasonal vegetables and accompanied by a glass of Côtes du Rhône wine, $25

Wednesday: Seared Diver Sea Scallop Entrée with summer vegetables and accompanied by a glass of rosé wine, $28

Thursday: Mussels and Homemade Frites sprinkled with truffle sea salt and accompanied by a glass of Stella Artois, $22

Looking ahead to September, save the date for Two Chefs, Two Courses, Two Glasses of Wine: On Thursday, September 4th from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Chef Bacle in collaboration with Chef/Owner Noguier will present a special evening called "TWO," which celebrates delicious French food and wine all at a good value. Both French chefs will create one course using seasonal ingredients fresh from the Green City Market that will pair with a glass of French wine that they have selected. The two course meal carefully paired with two glasses wine is $59 per person, excluding tax and gratuity.
