Celebrate your favorite furry or scaly friend at the Chicago Children's Museum at Navy Pier. This summer's Ready, Pet, Go! exhibit gives kids the chance to step into their pet's paws. Dress up in fur and floppy ears, climb into kid-sized pet structures (including a chicken coop), and honor a beloved pet by creating a tag and adding it to the museum's collection.
"Simply stated, children love pets," explained Jennifer Farrington, president and CEO of Chicago Children's Museum. "We've seen this affection across time, geography and culture. With Ready, Pet, Go!, we're taking that concept and creating a space that allows visitors to explore this inherent connection in a variety of fun and educational ways."
Check the museum's calendar for exhibit related events, including an animal dance party and papermaking craft workshop. The museum's blog also features a great post on what your family should consider when deciding to adopt a pet.
The Anti-Cruelty Society, Chicago's largest humane society is the museum's partner for Ready, Pet, Go! While there will not be live animals in the exhibit permanently, every Tuesday at 1 p.m. the Anti-Cruelty Society will bring a friendly animal to visit with museum goers.
