February is the shortest month of the year, so there's a lot to pack in. No amount of snow and cold can slow Chicago's music scene down and here are eight concerts coming up this month to prove it.
2 Chainz (2/7)
2 Chainz isn't just a rapper from Georgia with a ridiculous name, he's becoming one of the biggest names in hip hop. He's on tour this winter with former Clipse member Pusha T and up and coming R&B crooner August Alsina. They're coming to the Chicago Theatre on February 7. You can still buy tickets starting at $50.
Justin Timberlake (2/16-17)
JT had maybe his best year ever in 2013 and now he's coming to Chicago for one of our biggest shows in 2014 so far. The "Suit & Tie" singer's 20/20 Experience Tour hits the United Center for two nights, February 16 and 17. Only a limited amount of tickets remain, so get ‘em quick.
Umphrey's McGee (2/20-22)
Umphrey's McGee is Chicago's best loved jam band and they're always looking to show us some love in return. With a knack for constantly finding ways to enhance their live show experience, you can count on some great moments during their three-night residency at the Riviera Theatre, February 20 - 22. Tickets for all three shows are on sale now for $35.
The Autumn Defense (2/21/22)
The Autumn Defense made a splash this year at Chicago's recent Bluegrass and Blues Festival. The country-inspired rock group features Wilco member John Stirratt so, obviously, they hold a special place in Chicago's hearts. They return to Schubas Tavern on February 21 and 22 to celebrate their newest album Fifth. Tickets to both shows are $15.
The Hood Internet (2/22)
The Hood Internet, pictured above, are masters of the turntables and have never been known to put on a boring show. The local mashup kings are throwing a party at Chicago's newest restaurant/deli/butcher shop hybrid Chop Shop in the Wicker Park neighborhood on February 22 and all proceeds go towards the Chicago Children's Choir. Tickets are $50. Come for the food and the good will, stay for the dance party.
Dropkick Murphys (2/23)
Allow your Irish side to come out a month early when the Dropkick Murphys blow through town on February 23. The Celtic rock group has been going strong for almost two decades and their live show is just as rambunctious as ever. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $30.
Paul Simon and Sting (2/25)
Two legends. One stage. Paul Simon and Sting in one night! The two are bringing their super tour to Chicago on February 25 and we couldn't be more excited to see what kind of collaborations they come up with. Tickets start at $45.
Yasiin Bey (2/28)
Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) is a successful rapper, actor and all around respectable guy. Often noted for his hyper-poetic political and socially conscious lyrics, he's been elevating the quality of rap music for years. He'll make a rare appearance at the Metro on February 28. Tickets start at $36.
