The 7th annual Chicago Restaurant Week officially kicked off on Friday. Joining the festivities for the first time this year are 64 new restaurants (in addition to the more than 200 eateries that have previously participated). To help you narrow down your options, here are three new additions you should add to your list.
In honor of Chicago Restaurant Week, Trencherman is offering a 4-course dinner menu. Highlights include sunchokes with black truffle and dried plums, ocean trout (served with beluga lentils, pumpkin seeds, squash and brussel sprouts), and s'mores made with dark chocolate and served with popcorn ice cream. An optional wine pairing is also available for an additional $25 per person. (2039 W. North Avenue, Wicker Park)
One of the city's top spots for ramen, Slurping Turtle is offering a special lunch and dinner menu. Choose from an appetizer list that includes their fan favorite duck-fat fried chicken, belly snack or hamachi taco before moving on to the main event-your choice of several ramen dishes. Dinner includes a second appetizer, and both menus end with your choice of cream puff for dessert. (116 W Hubbard Street, River North)
This Andersonville favorite, known for serving up Southern food with a focus on seasonal heirloom ingredients, joins the ranks of Chicago Restaurant Week this year. Come for dinner and get a taste of menu highlights like crispy deviled crab fritters and rabbit served with creamy Carolina gold rice perlau, turnips, parsnips and sauerkraut.
