Wrigley Field's 100th birthday celebration continues this weekend as the Cubs take the field for another historic homestand. Head to the "Friendly Confines" for the Cubs' matchup with the Pittsburgh Pirates, June 20-22, commemorating the team's 1950s era.
The series opener this afternoon features an Ernie Banks Bobblehead giveaway, presented by Giordano's. The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive this limited-edition bobblehead of one of the great Cubs in history. "Mr. Cub," an 11-time All-Star, spent his entire 19-season MLB career with the Cubs. Banks is a member of the Major League Baseball All-Century Team and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977. You won't want to miss taking home this Ernie Banks bobblehead.
The following night, the first 10,000 fans in attendance at the 6:15 p.m. game will receive a Cubs T-shirt, presented by Cooper Tires. These charcoal grey shirts are replete with a 100 Years Cooper Tires design on the back and 1950s era Cubs logo on the front.
The Pirates series finale on Sunday, 1:20 p.m., features a '50s throwback Cubs Mr. Potato Head® keychain, given to the first 5,000 children in attendance. The Cubs will also be wearing their 1953 throwback home uniforms, with a minimalist design and big, bold cubs logo in its usual position on the left.
The Cubs will continue to play at home until Sunday, June 28. Chicago takes on the Cincinnati Reds in a three-game series, June 23-25, then face the Washington Nationals for a four-game series - they'll play a back-to-back on Saturday, June 28.
