Chicago SummerDance June and July Highlights

Thursday, June 11, 2015 12:00 AM by Andrew Morrell

Of the many arts and culture activities Chicago has to offer during the summer, few are as unique and exciting as Chicago SummerDance. Running June 26-September 13 in Grant Park's Spirit of Music Garden, SummerDance combines a basic dance workshop with a live music performance, making for the perfect night out. If you've always wanted to learn swing, mambo, salsa or any other traditional dance style, you'll have an amazing (and free!) opportunity at SummerDance. Even if you're not in the mood to groove, you can still enjoy the tunes and moves in the company of friends and picnic food.

Downtown Sound-1

Chicago summers are so amazing, people actually look forward to Mondays, and not just because of the warm weather. On Mondays and Thursdays, you can catch a free concert downtown in Millennium Park as part of the Downtown Sound series. The concerts, which take place at Pritzker Pavilion, feature an eclectic mix of  musicians from Chicago and around the world.

And while you can arrive early and grab a seat up front, there's plenty of room on the lawn to spread out and enjoy a bite to eat. But don't just settle for cheese and crackers - why not sample the unique cuisine Chicago offers while enjoying the equally diverse talent on display? Use this picnic pairing guide and get the most out of your Downtown Sound experience.
