Magnificent Mile Lights Festival

The holidays are quickly approaching and Chicago is the perfect place to celebrate. We've got the 69-foot Christmas Tree lighting, one of the best holiday parades on The Magnificent Mile, holiday musicals and so much more on our holiday calendar! Not only that, you can check out some of the most desirable muscle cars ever! Time to make weekend plans.

Jim's Original

Celeb tv personality and chef Andrew Zimmern knows where to go for a good time: he made two trips to Chicago for his popular Bizarre Foods show, and this year he came back to Chicago once again to film an episode of his newest Travel Channel series Driven By Food. Take Zimmern's lead and plan a tour of Chicago in the footsteps of the man who knows a world-class city, a good time and awesome food when he sees it!

Christkindlmarket Chicago

It's that time again. Holiday shopping in Chicago may not officially start until the Friday after Thanksgiving (here's a handy Mag Mile shopping map), but smart shoppers know that deals and steals happen early. Chicago hosts two festive markets that usher in the holiday season and supply both holiday fun and distinctive shopping treasures. Mark your calendars and make your Christmas in Chicago plans.

Thanksgiving at the Signature Room

Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends and feasting—it's not a time for freaking out about burnt birds or worrying that the turkey fryer might set your garage on fire. Skip the hassle and treat your family to a Thanksgiving dinner to remember in Chicago.

MCA Prime Time

If you think Chicago music is just about Kanye and R. Kelly, then you should check out the Museum of Contemporary Art's Prime Time after-hours series, which explores the pulse of the city's creative community. The interactive program features live music, performance art and film screenings for evenings of cultural highlights and discourse.

Family Day at MCA Chicago

It's finally the weekend and we've got some really cool things for you to do! We've already highlighted the recent opening of a major tattoo exhibit at The Field (yes, you can actually watch people get tattooed live!) and the colorful showcase from author/illustrator of Where the Wild Things Are at MSI. But you can also get in the holiday spirit this weekend at Charlie Brown and friends, or join a FREE workshop during the Chicago Book Expo.

Tattoo exhibit
Rarely do you see the phrase “rock star” being used to describe a museum exhibit, but the words perfectly describe Tattoo at The Field Museum. The show, which runs through April 30, 2017, was initially developed by Paris’s musée du quai Branly–Jacques Chirac and is showing in the United States for the first time.
VAMP

The comedy scene in Chicago is huge. In fact, you can see shows live seven nights a week all over the city. Many of them come and go, but these four Chicago comedy staples always entertain, no matter when—and how often—you drop in for a show.

The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival

The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival kicks off the holiday season in Chicago on Friday, November 18, and Saturday, November 19. When grand marshals Mickey and Minnie Mouse lead the capstone holiday parade of more than 40 floats, helium-filled balloons and marching bands and light up over one million lights on 200 trees along the Magnificent Mile with their magic wands, the most wonderful time of the year in Chicago has officially begun.

Where the Wild Things Are

There is so much to see and do at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry, where 14 acres of exhibits and experiences promise fun (and educational!) moments for all. This November, three amazing exhibits are opening their doors, giving museum guests the chance to soar like a bird, stomp along with wild things, and experience the joy of the holidays with a little Lego decor thrown in for good measure.
