Chicago's Best Pizza Parlors

Monday, January 11, 2016 12:00 AM by Amy Bizzarri

Lou Malnati's Chicago deep dish pizza

Chicago is my kind of pizza town: pizza parlors offer some of the best pieces of the pie in the world. From one of our city's greatest inventions — deep dish pizza — to crispy, delightful thin crust delights, you'll find a pizza to fit your style. On the heels of National Pizza Week (and in anticipation of National Pizza Day in February!), here are my family's picks for Chicago's very best pizza parlors.

Chicago Restaurant Week New Restaurants

Chicago Restaurant Week gets better and bigger every year. One of Chicago's preeminent dining draws, the two-week promotion (taking place January 22-February 4) boasts over 300 restaurants this year, along with more than 50 restaurant newcomers, not to mention several of Chicago's hottest, buzziest restaurants.

Cobb Gate at University of Chicago Campus

When we say "57th Street" in Chicago, the person in-the-know can tell you that this is 57 blocks south of Madison Street and we add a cardinal direction (East) we know that we are east of State Street, that Great Street. I first found this corner of 57th Street — this curious mile long stretch from Stony Island to Cottage Grove Avenue — when I was just 18 and new to Chicago.

Chicago Distilling Company

Chicago is a town that embraces the craft spirit movement with arms flung wide. Options abound for those who appreciate the love and effort that goes into creating these barrels of goodness. Worth checking out is Chicago Distilling Company, a family-owned distillery that specializes in creating spirits with organic grains from Illinois.
