Common Threads Chef Takeover fueled by Circuit of the Americas

Common Threads, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing health and wellness to children, families and communities through cooking and nutrition education, just announced the launch of Common Threads Chef Takeover Fueled by Circuit of The Americas. The pop-up dinner series consists of five one-night-only ticketed events throughout the country, beginning with Chicago on April 30.

Each event in the series features a group of renowned chefs collaborating to create a themed meal ranging from the revival of a world-famous menu from the past to a cultural fusion spanning the culinary map. The Chicago event will focus on a Charlie Trotter-inspired menu, featuring acclaimed chefs: Chef Fabio Viviani, Chef Brad Kilgore, Chef Anita Lo, Chef JJ Johnson and Chef Dana Cree.

Master Sommelier, Serafin Alvarado, will curate the wine pairings for this unique dinner experience. The evening will also include an opening reception with small bites prepared by Chef Jeremy Leven of mfk. restaurant and a group of Common Threads students, a silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind experiences and a special guest musical performance. Joining TV personality and author Adam Richman, award-winning journalist Tamron Hall and Food & Wine Magazine’s Gail Simmons will act as honorary chairs for the series. Three Dots and a Dash Cocktail Takeover Event

On Sunday, April 30th, world-renowned tiki bar Three Dots and a Dash will host a cocktail takeover event with Dirty Dick from Paris and Trick Dog from San Francisco. The teams from the wildly popular neo-tiki bar and the acclaimed James Beard Award-nominated cocktail lounge, respectively, will join Beverage Director Julian Cox for a very rare appearance in Chicago to celebrate the James Beard Foundation Awards.

From 5-8pm, guests will be treated to exclusive creations from masters of tiki Julian Cox, who will be previewing several cocktails that will appear on the new Three Dots menu the following week; Scott Shruder, who founded Dirty Dick and OFTD Plantation Rum; and the Bon Vivants team behind Trick Dog, who will be promoting their latest endeavor - the Trick Dog Mural Project. The book, which doubles as their cocktail menu, will be on sale at the event, with proceeds going to two non-profits in San Francisco.

The limited-time-only menu will be available on Sunday, April 30 and Monday, May 1, from 5-8pm. This event is free to attend and open to the public. Three Dots and a Dash is located at 435 N. Clark.

For one night only, JBFA Outstanding Chef finalist, Gabrielle Hamilton, of the popular East Village bistro, Prune, will bring her award-winning New American fare to Nico Osteria for an exclusive restaurant takeover on Tuesday, May 2. Chef Gabrielle Hamilton (JBFA Outstanding Chef finalist) will join chef Erling Wu-Bower (JBFA Best Chef: Great Lakes nominee) and chef Paul Kahan (JBFA Outstanding Chef winner) for this one-night-only restaurant takeover. Nico Osteria’s dinner menu will transform to feature 15-20 specialty Prune dishes and delicious Prune cocktails.
