Professional Development

The convention and tourism industry often moves at a fast pace, but the CCTB can help you stay on top of your game. Professional development opportunities are designed to assist members enhance their businesses, as well as their own personal and professional growth. Through formal educational sessions and informal mentoring programs, we want to help you get the most out of the CCTB and make your business - and career - the best it can be! Professional development opportunities are available to all members of your staff.

Educational Seminars
With all the changing dynamics and issues, we realize it's sometimes difficult to keep up with industry trends. The CCTB offers educational programming to assist, often featuring nationally recognized speakers and experts. Recent seminar topics have included technology (with national hospitality expert Corbin Ball), meeting trends (with top industry analyst Peter Yesawich) and the changing face of customer service. About 2-3 seminars are held per year; usually in 2-4 hour sessions.

Member Benefits and Services

Reviews/Roundtables
The CCTB holds sessions to review or inform members of benefits and services available to them, based on their category. These are valuable seminars for new members, those who have been with us for many years and need a refresher, or those who have changed jobs within the industry and want to learn about benefits that didn't apply to their previous business. A great way to meet and greet Bureau staff, they also provide the opportunity for members to share ideas and observations with membership staff in a roundtable format.

Member Mentor Program
Supplementing support offered by Membership staff, the CCTB's mentor program pairs long-time volunteers with members who are relatively new to the industry. Mentors may assist their "mentees" by providing tips on professional growth, different segments of the industry, or key people they may want to get to know. They may also provide insight on Bureau programs, or simply be a friendly face at networking events.
