Brief Program Description & Target Market: The CCTB plans two to four INTERNAL FAM Trips annually to familiarize the services, sales, special events, and membership departments with various venues and members in the Chicago area.  The CCTB reaches out to our CCTB DMC members via our service request form to see if a company would like to host this endeavor.  Please note that in order to be fair to all members, we rotate this opportunity each time a FAM arises for the CCTB staff.  Three departments, along with the sales and tourism departments, help to ensure that all active CCTB members are realizing the benefits of their membership.  Here is a synopsis of what each department covers at the CCTB, so you know who attends this FAM trip:
 
1.Membership: The membership department works to actively find new members and retain current members of the CCTB. Membership Account Executives help CCTB members maximize their membership and answer member questions throughout the year.
 
2.Client Services: The client services department works with definite bookings.  Client services managers work directly with meeting planners and often exhibitors to help them find off-site venues for client dinners, receptions, and special events.  Client service managers also work with meeting planners to market Chicago as a destination and execute the Mayor's city-wide "We're Glad You're Here!®" welcoming program.
 
3.Special Events: The special events department plans all client, sales, and membership-related events for the CCTB in Chicago and throughout the country. 

 

Member Opportunity:  Internal FAM trips allow the CCTB staff to experience the selected DMC as the CCTB’s clients would then work with the DMC. The day is also an opportunity for the DMC’s staff to get to know CCTB Staff members, and vice-versa.  Internal FAM trips are considered educational outings that provide a better understanding of member venues and services.

Cost to Participate: By participating in a FAM, the DMC agrees to provide transportation for the day (approximately 10am – 4pm), could provide recommendations on venues to site, and the DMC would have the opportunity to "theme” the FAM, etc. as the DMC would do for a client site visit. Restaurants/Venues who may be involved as a site stop are not required to provide anything, however, often times the venues will provide a sampling of food or a beverage for the attendees to experience their full offerings.
