(Chicago, IL)- February 15, 2006- For the month of March, the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau (CTB) has 29 conventions, trade shows and other meetings on record. According to the CCTB's Acting CEO, Bill Utter, "These events are expected to attract 135,545 attendees, who will spend an estimated $148 million while in the city of Chicago."
Following are the highlights:
INTERNATIONAL HOME & HOUSEWARES SHOW
The International Home & Housewares Show will be held at McCormick Place March 12-14. It is expected to attract 60,000 delegates who will bring an estimated $56 million in direct expenditures to the city of Chicago.
The International Home & Housewares Show is the most comprehensive in the industry and features over 2,000 exhibitors from over 30 countries. Attendees will be able to view various products, advancements and innovations in the industry.
AMUSEMENT SHOWCASE INTERNATIONAL
The Amusement Showcase International will be held at the Hyatt Regency Chicago March 16-18. It is expected to attract 5,000 delegates who will bring an estimated $3 million in direct expenditures to the city of Chicago.
This three-day event will feature nearly 150 manufacturers and suppliers in the amusement industry, along with 500 international visitors from 40 countries.
AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEONS
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons will host its 2006 Annual Meeting March 22-26 at McCormick Place. It is expected to attract 25,000 delegates and generate an estimated $47 million in direct expenditures for the city of Chicago.
Delegates will have the opportunity to compare products, attend demonstrations and network with representatives from over 400 companies from around the world. This meeting is the largest gathering of companies displaying products and services specifically for the orthopaedic surgeon.
AMERICAN COLLEGE OF HEALTHCARE EXECUTIVES
Over 4,000 delegates will meet at the Hyatt Regency Chicago for the 2006 Congress on Healthcare Leadership. The show will be held March 27-30 and is expected to generate $4 million in direct expenditures for the city of Chicago.
This conference is the largest of American College of Healthcare Executives events and offers healthcare professionals a variety of educational seminars, career development programs and various networking events.
