(Chicago, IL)-April 15, 2006- For the month of May, the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau (CCTB) has 66 conventions, trade shows and other meetings on record. According to the CCTB’s President Tim Roby, “These events are expected to attract 202,057 attendees, who will spend an estimated $242 million while in the city of Chicago.
Following are the highlights:
2006 FMI Show
The Food Marketing Institute will host its 2006 FMI Show at McCormick Place May 7-9. It is expected to attract 35,000 delegates who will bring an estimated $33 million in direct expenditures for the city of Chicago.
The 2006 FMI Show is the premier global marketplace for food industry leaders. This three-day show features attendees from over 130 countries and offers the latest in new products, leading exhibitors and a variety of educational programs.
American Industrial Hygiene Conference & Exposition
Over 9,000 delegates will meet at McCormick Place for the American Industrial Hygiene Conference & Expo, the premier conference for industrial hygiene and environmental health and safety. The show will be held May 13-18 and is expected to generate $17 million in direct expenditures while in the city of Chicago.
Over 320 exhibitors will offer attendees the opportunity to showcase innovative products and services. The conference will also feature over 200 courses and technical sessions, along with interactive symposiums and demonstrations.
American College of Surgeons
The American College of Surgeons Spring Meeting will be held at the Hyatt Regency Chicago May 18-22 and is expected to attract 1,500 delegates who will bring approximately $2 million in direct expenditures to the city of Chicago.
This five-day event will offer the latest in educational and scientific programs, plus renowned speakers and interactive workshops.
National Restaurant Association®
The National Restaurant Show will be held at McCormick Place May 20-23. It is expected to attract more than 73,000 delegates, which will generate more than $101 million in direct expenditures to the city of Chicago.
NRA Show 2006 is the Western Hemisphere’s largest foodservice and hospitality event. The show features more than 2,000 exhibiting companies from over 100 countries who will demonstrate the latest in products and technology.
Retail Systems Alert Group
Over 6,000 delegates will meet at McCormick Place for the Retail Systems 2006 Conference & Exposition. The show will be held May 21-24 and is expected to generate $8 million in direct expenditures for the city of Chicago.
This four-day event features the largest extended retail industry-specific expo floor in North America. Attendees will have the opportunity to partake in various workshops, networking opportunities and roundtable discussions.
