$38 Million in Convention Business Comes to Chicago in December

(Chicago, IL)-November 16, 2006-For the month of December, the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau (CCTB) has 10 conventions, trade shows and other meetings on record. According to the CCTB’s Mark Theis, Executive Vice President, Sales, "These events are expected to attract 42,719 attendees, who will spend an estimated $38 million while in the city of Chicago.”

Following are the highlights:

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF ORAL & MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEONS

The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) will hosts its 2006 Dental Implant Conference
November 30-December 3 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. It is expected to attract 1,500 delegates and generate an estimated $1 million for the city of Chicago.
Over 80 companies exhibiting the latest products, equipment and services related to the dental field will be on display. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn state-of-the-art techniques involving the latest in technology for surgical practices.

JUPITERMEDIA CORPORATION-SEARCH ENGINE STRATEGIES

The Jupitermedia Corporation-Search Engine Strategies (SES) will gather at the Hilton Chicago December 4-7 for their annual conference and expo. It is expected to attract 2,000 delegates and generate an estimated $2 million for the city of Chicago.
This conference is the premier event for search engine marketing and optimization and allows delegates the opportunity to maximize search engine marketing and optimization opportunities while staying informed of the latest search developments and solutions in the field.

ONE-OF-A-KIND SHOW AND SALE
Over 25,000 attendees will gather December 8-10 at the Merchandise Mart for the One-of-a Kind Show and Sale. This show is expected to generate an estimated $17 million for the city of Chicago.
The show features over 400 of North America’s finest artists and craftspeople who specialize in painting, sculpture, glass, photography, furniture and jewelry.

HOLIDAY SHOWCASE 2006
The Hyatt Regency Chicago will host the Association Forum’s Holiday Showcase December 12. It is expected to attract 3,000 delegates.
This one-day event is Chicagoland’s #1 business services and meeting sites exposition. Attendees include association and corporate executives, meeting planners and corporate travel managers showcasing the most efficient way to do business at this annual networking and educational program.


THE MIDWEST CLINIC
The Midwest Clinic, an International Band and Orchestra Conference, will host its 60th Annual Conference December 19-23rd at the Hilton Chicago. It is expected to attract 10,000 delegates who will bring an estimated $14 million in direct expenditures for the city of Chicago.
This annual event is made up of school music teachers, directors and supervisors and will feature 350 exhibitors, 565 booths and 50 instructional clinics. Attendees include representatives from more than thirty countries and there will be representatives from all 50 states.
