(CHICAGO, IL) OCTOBER 16, 2007- Mark Theis, Executive Vice President, Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau (CCTB) announced the appointment of Darrell Baker to Director, Washington, DC Regional Sales. He will join the CCTB on October 29, 2007 and will work remote from Boston, MA reporting into the Bureau’s Maryland office.
Baker joins the CCTB with more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience within the meetings and convention industry. Most recently, he was Director, Meetings & Client Events for Fidelity Brokerage Services, LLC. Prior to his time with Fidelity, Baker spent five years as Vice President of Event Services with International Data Group (IDG ) that produced such shows as Mac World and Linux World. He also has extensive experience in leading the sales efforts for coastal convention and visitor bureaus and convention centers, in both Boston and San Francisco.
In this position, Baker will focus on citywide convention center accounts that are based in the greater WDC area, primarily in manufacturing, public administration, professional trade, science and technology market segments.
