Business travelers attending an event at McCormick Place now have access to seamless baggage service between the convention center and their post-show travel destination through a remote Skycap program called Baggage Airline Guest Services (BAGS).
The Skycap program allows travelers to check into their flight and receive their boarding pass for a $10 fee - all while they are still at McCormick Place. Prior to airport check-in, baggage and coat check stations are available throughout McCormick Place and can be utilized to check travel items on the final day of their visit at an additional cost of $2 per item.
"Chicago has a reputation for providing industry-leading services to our customers, said Tim Roby, president of the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau. "The BAGS service is the latest example of superior customer service that meeting and convention attendees will receive before, during and even after their event in Chicago."
The Skycap service is available to those attendees departing on domestic flights from O'Hare International Airport on American, Delta, Song, Ted and United Airlines. BAGS looks forward to extending the service to Midway airport soon.
More than 1,600 visitors to McCormick Place during such events as RSNA 2005 and the 2006 International Housewares Show have already used the service.
"McCormick Place is excited about this added convenience for our visitors," said Leticia Peralta Davis, chief executive officer for the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority. "We are always looking for ways to make life a little easier for our visitors, and we are proud to be the only convention facility in the Midwest that offers this Skycap program."
