In addition to internationally renowned attractions throughout the city, Chicago is home to many places of special interest to GLBT visitors.
Since it opened in 2007, the Center on Halsted has become the most comprehensive GLBT community center in the Midwest. It serves as a wealth of social services, classes, and recreational facilities, along with rich theater, gallery exhibits, and cultural programs.
The Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame showcases the contributions of the city’s GLBT communities – through online exhibits. Every year, the organization honors inductees for their contributions and hosts a variety of other events and programs.
Gerber/Hart Library – with more than 14,000 volumes, 800 periodical titles, and 100 archival collections – is the Midwest's largest GLBT circulating library.
