The rampant obsession with doughnuts in Chicago shows no sign of subsiding anytime soon. After its sold-out premiere last year, Donut Fest is back for round two this year on January 25 at Chop Shop/1st Ward, celebrating all things doughy, deep-fried, and addictive.

In order to showcase the city's torrid fanaticism with doughnuts, Donut Fest brings together a who's-who of Chicago doughnut-slingers. From yeast-risen doughnuts to cake-y treats, from crullers to fritters, all walks of doughnut life are represented at this starchy smack-down. New to the format this year, Donut Fest will be divvied into two sessions, an "Early Bird" session from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. for $30 and a later session from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. for $35. Guests get to sample the wares from each vendor and receive free coffee tickets.

Participants include Glazed & Infused, Beavers Coffee + Donuts, West Town Bakery, Firecakes, Doughnut Vault, Scafuri Bakery, Swedish Bakery, Donut Den, and more. One vendor will be crownded "Best Donut in Chicago," so the stakes are feverishly high. Of course, you can't have doughnuts without coffee, which comes courtesy of Dark Matter and Chicago Coffees and Teas.

The event is the brainchild of dual doughnut aficionados Alyssa Erickson and Rebecca Skoch. The best part is that money raised for the event is going toward Un86'd, a local charity designed to provide financial aid for restaurant industry professionals in medical need.

Bingeing on doughnuts has never felt so altruistic. Click here for more information on this binge-worthy festival.
