Give student groups a fun, educational Chicago experience!

With over 40 museums, countless entertaining attractions and tours, and numerous student-friendly restaurants and accommodations, Chicago is the perfect place to bring your student and youth groups. Here are just a few ideas for your student group trip in Chicago:

Chicago is known for its incredible architecture, and there's no better way to educate students on the history of the city's buildings than with a Chicago Architecture Foundation tour. Pick from many interactive field trips ranging from boat tours to art workshops for grades from kindergarten to high school.

For a memorable out-of-classroom experience, bring your students on Mercury Cruise's Science is Fun cruise. This 90-minute science adventure includes fun experiments, skyline views and interesting facts about the Chicago River. Another great option is Segway Experience of Chicago (ages 12 and up), which takes students gliding through the city to see some of Chicago's most iconic and historical attractions.

Take your student groups behind the scenes of Chicago's historic theatres with Broadway In Chicago, offering public tours of two of its three theatres every Saturday at 11am, as well as group tours that can be booked separately. Or give them an exclusive look at how things work behind the exhibits at the Shedd Aquarium and The Field Museum, both of which offer guided behind-the-scenes tours.

At the Adler Planetarium, student groups can meet an astronomer or scientist to learn more about our Solar System during Astronomy Conversations (check website for dates and times). A trip to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago opens up the world of currency and banking to students, giving them an informative look at how the Federal Reserve System works (tours 1pm Mon.-Fri.).

For youth sports teams, or any student group, a trip to Wrigley Field is a must-do in Chicago. Book an interactive educational tour and let students explore the grounds at the Friendly Confines while learning all about what happens behind the scenes at the stadium. You can also sign up for a professional talk with Cubs personel to learn about internships taken, majors chosen and career paths of people in the industry.

Students can refuel with a Chicago staple: Deep-dish pizza. Take your student group to Lou Malnati's or Gino's East for a large slice of the city's best deep dish. Head to Rainforest Café to dine in a tropical jungle environment, complete with rolling thunder and animated wildlife. Navy Pier has many great restaurants, including Capi's Italian Kitchen, serving up traditional Italian cuisine in a welcoming environment. Or dine at Foodlife in Water Tower Place, featuring 13 different food kiosks so every student can get exactly what they want.

At the end of the day, students can recharge at one of Chicago's student-friendly hotels. The Essex Inn, conveniently located on Michigan Avenue, offers great views of Grant Park and amenities such as an all-season rooftop pool. Or your student groups can stay at Chicago Getaway Hostel in the bustling Lincoln Park neighborhood. The possibilities are endless.
