From the transformation of a landmark building into the elegant Langham Hotel (pictured) to a River North restaurant from another "Top Chef," 2013 brings with it some exciting new openings with unique meeting opportunities.

SIENA TAVERN: EARLY 2013

"Top Chef" alum and native Italian Fabio Viviani will open an Italian restaurant in River North early next year. Housed in a 10,000-sq.-ft. space, Siena Tavern will feature six distinct spaces, including a crudo/pizza bar with an open kitchen. On the menu will be housemade pastas (think: truffle gnocchi), Neapolitan pizzas and some recipes from Viviani's mom.

PROMONTORY RESTAURANT: EARLY 2013

This new restaurant/bar/concert venue will be housed in a 25,000-sq.-ft. site just across the street from the mixed-use Harper Court development opening in spring 2013. The owner of Michelin-starred Longman & Eagle, Bruce Finkelman, will partner with acclaimed Longman & Eagle chef Jared Wentworth at the Promontory, though neither has revealed what type of cuisine will be served.

LANGHAM CHICAGO HOTEL: SUMMER 2013

The landmark, riverfront Mies van der Rohe building will be transformed into a haven of European hospitality, with 316 spacious guest rooms and 15,000 sq. ft. of elegant meeting space.

THE GODFREY HOTEL CHICAGO: SUMMER 2013

The cube-inspired architecture of this new hotel isn't the only thing that will make it stand out. Its 12,000-sq.-ft.indoor/outdoor rooftop lounge and conference space is also accented with water elements, fire pits and greenery, allowing for flexible indoor/outdoor events.

MULTI-HOTEL DEVELOPMENT: JUNE 2013

Business meets style in the heart of River North, amid a development that will house the new Aloft Chicago City Center (272 rooms), Hyatt Place (212 rooms) and Fairfield Inn & Suites Chicago Downtown/River North (180 rooms).

  • Shared, flexible meeting space: 3,500 sq. ft.

HYATT PLACE CHICAGO @ HYDE PARK: AUGUST 2013

The south side neighborhood of Hyde Park gets its first new hotel in nearly 50 years in the form of this six-floor, 131-room, LEED-certified hotel with underground parking, meeting spaces, dining and a bar, an indoor swimming pool and a fitness center.

  • Main meeting room: 70 banquet / 100 reception
  • Board room: 12 capacity

VIRGIN HOTEL CHICAGO: FALL 2013

Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Hotel opens this year in Chicago in a 27-story art deco landmark building in the Loop, one block off Michigan Avenue. Expect 250 guest rooms, dining options and meeting spaces that follow Virgin’s hip, fresh brand.
