Loews Hotels & Resorts last month announced that the company completed the acquisition of the 556-room InterContinental Chicago O'Hare Hotel, which has immediately been converted to the Loews Hotels brand. The hotel is across from the Donald E. Stephen's Convention Center, adjacent to the newly opened Fashion Outlets of Chicago and a couple blocks from the Rosemont Entertainment District. Loews Chicago O'Hare features three restaurants and bars, more than 53,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and a curated art gallery.
In 2015, Loews also plans to open the Loews Chicago Hotel, a new 400-room property.
Cathay Pacific Airways has added three weekly passenger flights from O'Hare International Airpot to Hong Kong International Airport, bringing the total to 10 flights per week. Cathay Pacific was recently named "World's Best Airline" by Skytrax in its annual World Airline Awards. The airline flies to 189 destinations in 47 countries and territories.
Soho House unveiled its latest venue in Chicago last month, the brand's largest to date. The hotel includes 40 guest rooms, a spa, screening room, and a gymnasium complete with boxing ring. The former warehouse space also has three ground-level restaurants, a members-only club floor and a rooftop bar and lounge with pool deck and sweeping views of the city.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. last month announced the opening of Le Méridien Chicago - Oakbrook Center, following a $25 million interior and exterior transformation. In addition to extensive renovations, the hotel unveiled a modern rooftop Spanish restaurant, El Tapeo, with panoramic views of the cityscape. Formerly the Renaissance Chicago Oak Brook, the hotel features 172 guestrooms and suites as well as 3,500 square feet of private event space.
