Two stations along the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA)'s Blue Line - California and Damen - will close for renovations this fall and winter. The California stop will be closed from Sept. 4 - October 16, while the Damen station will close Oct. 20 - Dec. 22. Free bus shuttle service will be offered to bridge the gap between shuttered stations.
Travel + Leisure recently released its 19th annual World's Best Awards, singling out The Langham, Chicago as the best large city hotel in the U.S. The Awards are based on readers' ratings in a number of categories - The Langham received a 96.00 overall score.
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants last month purchased a historic 14-story building, known as The New York Life Building, in Chicago's Central Loop. The property will be converted into a four-star, 281-room hotel, with plans for 9,500 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. The iconic building, one of only two existing Chicago office buildings created by architect William Le Baron Jenney, will have 12,500 square feet of meeting and event space, as well as a top floor ballroom with views of LaSalle Street.
Hyatt The Loop Chicago is scheduled to open in February 2015, currently undergoing renovations in a converted vintage office building at 100 W. Monroe. The 275-room hotel overlooking Chase Plaza will include a French restaurant and bar, rooftop lounge and approximately 2,500 square feet of meeting space. This will the fifth Hyatt-branded hotel in downtown Chicago.
