Logan Center for the Arts

The University of Chicago's Logan Center for the Arts opened in October with more than 20 distinct meeting spaces, from vast theaters to seminar-style classrooms. A few available facilities:

Gidwitz Lobby:: Two-level space ideal for receptions

Performance Hall: Large stage plus fixed seating for 474

Theater West: Black-box theatrical space with varied seating configurations (up to 185)

Central Courtyard: 5,200-square-foot outdoor space


Lillie's Q: New Off-Loop Location

Lillie's Q, a popular barbecue restaurant on the west side, recently opened a new location in the Chicago French Market, an indoor market filled with grab-and-go options just three blocks from downtown's busy Loop neighborhood.

The smaller, 200-square-foot location mostly offers take-out and features an abbreviated version of Lillie's Q's Southern menu, including pulled pork, crawfish rolls, baby back ribs, collared greens and grits.


Chicago Marriott Midway Completes Renovations

The 200-room, six-story Chicago Marriott Midway (eight miles from downtown) recently completed a multimillion-dollar full-property renovation. Among the updates:

Guest rooms: New carpet, bed linens, artwork, wireless Internet and more

Ballroom: New chandelier shades and artwork

Lobby: New Marriott Great Room concept centering around a fireplace and an open floor plan
