The Hotel Sax in River North is dropping its name and joining Marriott International Inc.'s Autograph Collection, a collection of properties operated like independent brands. This will be the second name change for the hotel in the last seven years. It opened as the House of Blues Hotel in 1998, but was changed to the Hotel Sax in 2006 after LaSalle Hotel Properties purchased it. The new name has not been revealed yet. More details are expected in February.

Fulton's on the River will close its doors after eight years of serving Chicago. January 11 is slated to be its last day of regular dining business. The spot will not be vacant for long. A new concept from Chef Tony Mantuano is expected to open in the spring, just in time for patio season. The restaurant will offer a casual dining hall with rustic American fare, with the menu focusing on big dishes, dramatic presentations and bold flavors. The restaurant will be revamped to showcase a brand new lower-level dining room with sweeping views of the Chicago River, two bars, a refreshed patio, a semi-private dining room and a new event space that overlooks the dining room.
During the renovation, Fulton's banquet and event space will still be available for social events, provate dinners and other functions for large groups.
