Hyatt Regency Chicago ranked highest on Cvent's second annual ranking of the Top 100 Meeting Hotels in the U.S. To create the list, Cvent evaluated thousands of properties that received business through the Cvent Supplier Network. Hotels were ranked on various points, such as major metropolitan area market share, conversion rate and unique Cvent profile visits. The Hyatt Regency Chicago rose from the middle of the pack last year, landing the top spot for 2013.
Other Chicago hotels that made the list of top 25 include the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile (10), Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers (13), Swissôtel Chicago (15) and Palmer House a Hilton Hotel (24).

Chicago's LaSalle Street, known as the banking and financial district, is seeing more interest from hotel developers. According to news sources, Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group LLC is working on plans to convert one of the landmark office buildings into a 225- (or more) room hotel. This is one of three hotels in development on the street. Currently, a 257-room Hyatt is under construction nearby that is slated to open in early 2015. Just a few buildings down from the proposed Kimpton property, another developer plans to convert a building at 11 S. LaSalle Street into a Residence Inn by Marriott.

Air Chicago officially launched at the end of November. The first 24-hour airport radio station is dedicated to keeping travelers at O'Hare International Airport and Midway Airport up to date on airport information, weather and business news. It will also keep them entertained with jazz music and much more. Travelers can access the station through iHeartRadio.com and the iHeartRadio digital app; the CDA website, flychicago.com; and Clear Channel's local HD2 station, 103.5 KISS FM.
Hainan Airlines began service on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner between Beijing and Chicago. The Chinese airline's nonstop service at O'Hare will now be operated exclusively with the Dreamliner. Chicago is one of the first cities in the country to have nonstop service with the Dreamliner to China.
