Choose Chicago has expanded its global outreach with the opening of a fourth office in China, located in Chengdu, the fourth most populated city in the country. The Chinese market has proven to be invaluable to Chicago's tourism and trade operations, thus Chicago now has an even greater opportunity to become the most visible U.S. destination in the Sichuan Province.
According to a recent Chicago Tribune article, Chicago could expect a major boom for new hotel openings in 2015. Ted Mandingo, president of TR Mandigo & Co., a Chicago-based hotel consulting firm, predicts about 4,500 room additions to the existing 36,000 rooms in the Chicago area.
Laurence Geller, founder of Geller Investment, added, "We have an opportunity in 2015 of having the best year ever in the city with regard to hotels."
Indeed, 2015 - kicked off by the January debut of Virgin Hotel Chicago - the city is scheduled to welcome major brands such as a Loews Hotel on the north bank of the Chicago River; Hotel Indigo Chicago - Millennium Park; and Hyatt Chicago The Loop, 100 W. Monroe.
United Airlines announced in December new nonstop flights between Chicago O'Hare International Airport and Rome, starting May 16, 2015. The summer-season service will operate five times weekly through June 3, daily from June 4-August 17, and six times a week from August 18-Sept. 23, 2015.

Chicago's latest public venue, Maggie Daley Park, opened in December adjacent to the city's lakefront and Millennium Park.
