Summer's not over yet, so before school is back in session, take advantage of these final days of free time with our last-minute list of fun things to do in Chicago.

Take a ride on the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel.
Embrace the last carefree days of summer, and reach for the sky when you ride this iconic Ferris Wheel 150 feet up, open through September 27, 2015. Want even more summer fun? Catch the free Aon Summer Fireworks show at Navy Pier every Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. and Saturday at 10:15 p.m., now through September 5, 2015.

Watch daring aerial feats at the free Chicago Air and Water Show.
Find a spot along the lakefront to watch this annual spectacle on August 15-16, 2015 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., the largest show of its kind in the U.S.

Maggie Daley Park Chicago

Explore the Play Garden at Maggie Daley Park.
This interactive area for children under 12 features unique pathways, endless slides and themed play spaces.

Interact with robots at Robot Revolution inside The Museum of Science and Industry.
Try your hand at controlling robots or participate in a live drone show at this cutting-edge exhibit, open until January 3, 2016.

Have brunch with your doll at American Girl Place.
Bring your American Girl doll for a fun dining experience at the American Girl Café, or catch the special Chicago Skyline Cruise with American Girl for an unforgettable experience out on the water, where you'll learn about historical events that your American Girl might have experienced. 

Construct a pirate LEGO ship at the new Pirate Adventure Island at LEGOLAND.
Hidden sea creatures, a crystal cave and swashbuckling LEGO adventures are the draw at this new hands-on zone. 

Lincoln Park Zoo Chicago

Get a glimpse of Japanese Macaques in the new Lincoln Park Zoo exhibit.
Watch these unique monkeys as they play, call and chase each other in the new Regenstein Macaque Forest, featuring a vivid forest scene, complete with green vines and camouflage walls.

Pet stingrays at Stingray Touch in Shedd Aquarium.
Have you ever touched a stingray before? Discover their unique texture by dipping your hand in a shallow pool to pet one of the stingrays in the Stingray Touch exhibit, open until mid September.

Play and explore at the Family Fun Festival.
Interactive activities and games abound at this free festival June 22-August 23, 2015 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. in Chicago's Millennium Park.

Meet a wallaby at Brookfield Zoo's new Wild Encounters exhibit.
Journey through this new 3-acre habitat where you can touch and feed animals, such as parakeets and goats. You'll even get to see other animals up close, including wallabys, llamas, red pandas and more. While you're here, don't miss the exciting and interactive bird show Festival of Flight, ending September 7, 2015, which features nearly 20 species of birds.

Chicago Water Taxi

Catch a Chicago Water Taxi from the new Riverwalk stop.
While the weather's warm, enjoy the newly opened Chicago Riverwalk, as well as a fun trip along the Chicago River with a ride on the Chicago Water Taxi, offering service from its new LaSalle Riverwalk Stop.

Get a history lesson at the seasonal McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum.
Learn about the history of the Chicago River and fascinating facts about its massive bridges at this seasonal five-story bridgehouse museum.

Learn about space at Summer of Science in Adler Planetarium.
Celebrating its 85th anniversary, Adler Planetarium presents Summer of Science, a series of fun, interactive activities and events. Catch two more events this summer: Space Visualization (August 8) and Power of the Crowd (August 29). 

Cirque du Soleil KURIOS Chicago

Go under the big top at KURIOS by Cirque du Soleil. 
Discover a "cabinet of curiosities" at the only Midwest stop on the tour of this circus spectacular, ending September 20, 2015. This traveling production features mind-bending acrobatic feats, imaginative costumes and a mysterious realm housed under a massive 2,600-person big top tent.  

Venture "out to sea" in the Boats exhibit at Chicago Children's Museum.
Kids can have a maritime adventure with real boats and equipment, fun nautical costumes and an engaging make-believe experience with views of Lake Michigan providing a realistic backdrop.

Peek into the past with the Vikings exhibit at The Field Museum.
Learn all about these legendary Nordic voyagers in the Vikings exhibit, open until October 4, 2015.
