2. Charlie Brown and the Great Exhibit (Museum of Science and Industry)

How did Peanuts characters like Charlie, Lucy and Snoopy come to be? Give groups a glimpse into the imaginative mind of Charles Schulz in this upcoming exhibit (10/25/2012 – 2/18/2013). Here, they'll find original cartoons, memorabilia, a recreation of Schulz's California studio, hands-on activities (like making a zoetrope, a device that combines singular static images together to create creates the illusion of movement and animation) and a Peanuts tour of the holidays — Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day and Valentine's Day.

Group policy: Groups of 15 or more receive discounted rates.

Book group tickets: Call 773-684-1414.

3. Sensing Chicago (Chicago History Museum)

What would it be like to smell the burning embers of the Great Chicago Fire? How would a south-side jazz band from the city's past really sound? How would it feel to ride a high-wheel bicycle down Chicago's old bumpy wooden streets from the 1900s? Families find out firsthand at this full-sensory exhibit, where they get to explore the sights, smells and sounds of the city's past and present.

Group policy: Groups of 10 or more receive discounted rates.

Book group tickets: Call 312-799-2162 or fill out a group visit reservation form (PDF).
